is vinyl fence better ?

hi,
we bought a home in ottawa and plan to install vinyl fencing. is it a good idea? we want something maintenance-free, but aren't sure about siutability of vinyl in harsh winter climate, and how it compares with other fencing materials.

Well, they use vinyl for siding and for window frames, so that's probably a good sign. But, I vaguely remember a window vendor I was getting quotes from giving a caution about the colouring fading or something, but that might have been just for older products.
